North SLO County Concert Association Announces 2023-2024 Line-Up

The North San Luis Obispo County Concert Association is proud to announce its 2023-2024 Line-up.

The Robert Alberts Quintet kicks of the season on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Formed in July of 2021, The Robert Alberts Quintet boasts some of the Central Coast’s finest musicians as its members: Dawn Lambeth on piano and vocals, Dylan Johnson on Bass, Darrell Voss on drums, Karl Welz on tenor saxophone and Robert Alberts on trumpet & flugelhorn.

Grammy nominated pianist/vocalist, Judy Carmichael is one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride piano and swing returns to our stage on Sunday. December 3, 2023. Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride," acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style. Judy’s vocal debut on her CD “Come and Get It” features her singing debut on everything from Peggy Lee inspired standards, to humorous takes on Fats Waller tunes.

With trumpet, French horn and piano, plus the bonus of a brilliant operatic tenor, Brass Roots Trio kicks off 2024 on Sunday, January 27.  The Brass Roots Trio has won acclaim for its adventurous programming, breathtaking virtuosity and artistic passion. Since 2004 Brass Roots Trio has played to standing ovations and rave reviews in every corner of the US and England.

The double treat appears on Sunday, March 24 as cellist Anita Graef and pianist Louise Chan join us.  Graef has earned recognition for her music-making as an artist who is equally at home exploring traditional as well as contemporary works. Notable appearances include features in Strings Magazine, as well as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert series, and “Concerts from the Library of Congress." Joining Graef is Louise Chan, a versatile pianist with experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral keyboardist. She is a founding member of the Blue Violet Duo and has enjoyed repeat performances at the Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series.

Finishing out our 2023-2024 season is the trio of Doug Cameron, Alex Cameron and Bryan Pezzone on Sunday, April 14. Forget any preconceived notions you have about the violin. Well regarded as one of the top jazz violinists, Cameron can easily morph into so many different styles and genres, from Jazz to Celtic and from country to classical.

Now Doug brings his talented young son 17-year-old Alex to the stage. Alex has been performing with his dad for as long as he can remember and now commands the stage with his brilliance.

"Bryan Pezzone is the consummate crossover pianist of his generation. He has excelled in classical, contemporary, jazz, and experimental genres and is known for both his versatility and virtuosity as a performing artist, improviser and composer."
